Susan,

It is clear Mike touched many people, including you. I'm so sorry for your loss...and for his parents and family. He was so, so young. It takes an unknown amount of time to come to live with that silence, that empty space. Somehow, eventually, one can.

Blessings to you and Mike's family and friends.

Sorry to hear about your former student.

I loved the active portion of your poem: "So I open the window, suck up my breath..."

yes, there are all different kinds of silences, and i never really thought of it until your post. so sorry about this young man. though it can scarce be called justifiable, i trust his short tenure on earth will have lasting positive effect on those who knew and love him.

Oh, that's so sad, Susan. I'm so sorry for your loss. So hard to see someone so young die.
